Taylor Farms Update

This has been the quickest and longest year but it’s almost over! How about a quick update…

Highlights from Yuma:

Frost delays continue causing some delays of product from the fields and residual quality concerns.

Loading delays caused by shortened hours and lighter staff are the main focus for this week. We expect better results for the New Year Holiday

Quality, despite some freeze damage, has been really good. More frost in upcoming forecast is going to cause some additional damage to watch

Quick update by commodity:

  • Romaine – Seeing clear blister on the outer leaves but not much epidermal peel yet – More in the next few weeks

  • Iceberg – Great quality once you get through blister on the cap leaves

  • Cabbage – Great quality and supply

  • Broccoli – Color is great, still fighting a little mildew but mostly avoidable

  • Cauliflower – A little creamy color but overall pretty good – still supplementing with Mexico product

  • Baby leaf – A little purple shade on arugula from frost, spring mix seeing a little frost damage too

Limited border hours and holiday schedule have been communicated – if you have any questions, please let us know!

Availability of trucks is really the only thing to mention; Trucks are tough to get down there.

Seeing much better arrivals on Romaine and blends

No restrictions on supply at the moment, so order away
